Monday night (8 April 2013) on “Dancing with the Stars,” it was the “Best Year of My Life” Night. It was also time for the celebrity to perform a brief solo. A new leader leaped up and let it shine.

Olympic gold medal gymnast Alexandra Raisman and her partner Mark Ballas hit the dance floor for an amazing contemporary routine. Raisman and Ballas were the first dance couple to receive three nines for this season 16.

Last week’s leader, American Idol alum Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough fell to a tie for second place with Disney kid Zendaya and her professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy (26).

NFL star Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff received the same score as last week (24) and that put them in fourth place.

The real improvement this week was comedian D.L. Hughley who with his partner Cheryl Burke were tied with fellow comedian Andy Dick and pro Sharna Burgess with 21. Hughley danced the foxtrot while Dick got romantic with the Viennese waltz.

At the bottom were boxer Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold in a tie with Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko with 18.

Do you think Vanderpump will survive? It would be a shame to see sexy Savchenko go. Vanderpump fainted during rehearsal and decided during the program to compete. That shows gutsy determination, but will it be enough?

During the live shows, the judges will give each couple a score based on several factors, including technical execution. But the judges’ scores alone do not decide a couple’s fate.

Phone lines, text votes (AT&T customers only) and online voting will open at the top of each performance show so that viewers can vote for their favorites. Phone and text lines will stay open until 60 minutes after the end of the show in your local time zone. Online voting will remain open until 11 a.m. (Eastern Time)/ 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) the following day. Tuesday night, 9 April 2013, will be the second elimination for season 16 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
