Yeardley: A tragic but boring tale of a man set on self-destruct

The problem with narcissists is that they think the world revolves around them. The problem with this film is that the protagonist, Jeff Yeardley (Jesse Bernstein), can’t say no to women and we can’t understand why women would want him anyway.

Yeardley is only interested in his own sexual needs and gets fired for sexual harassment. This cause his wife, Susan (Saskia Grace Holmes),  to take their child and file for separation. Yeardley is then victimized by two women who want to see who will sleep with him first.

My husband and I both found this movie to be boring and trite. Who cared about Yeardley? In the end, it seems to trivialize the issue of sexual harassment and fidelity in marriage.

And yet I see that it won Best Feature at the Malibu Film Festival this year. Ath the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, it won Best Actor. It was also the first runner up for Best Feature. At the Nevada Film Festival (2009) it was the winner of the Platinum Reel Award.

It makes me wonder about the quality of the films at those festivals.

This movie was directed and written by Heath C. Michaels.
