What’s wonderful about WonderCon is that it is in Anaheim, a city used to hosting people dressed up in fandom and one can usually get parking at a reasonable price at or near the Anaheim Convention Center and a full weekend pass the week before. What’s not? The food prices.
We got two fish tacos (with fried wheat tortilla chips) and a strawberry horchata and it cost us $24. Ouch. The tacos tasted good. We dumped the chips. The horchata was on the watery side.
You probably no longer expect to see activations at WonderCon, but we’ve been going long enough to remember when “The Expanse” had one. There was even a Bumblebee Transformer on the mall a long time ago. But now you’ll see nothing but cosplayers and the content creating almost seems more important to photographers and cosplayers than what’s happening inside the convention center.
Inside, the absence of Funko Pop, Mondo and Funko pop and their fandom consumer cityscape was readily apparent. Remember the Polynesian dance show? Nothing like that. There was only one movie-related activation from Disney for the Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien survival horror thriller film: “Send Help.” Sign up for a time slot! It takes only 15 minutes, but you’ll be grouped with strangers to complete a few tasks. While it might help to see the film, we survived with only two group members having viewed it.
We didn’t even know what it was about! The film focuses on corporate strategist Linda Liddle who is on a business trip with fellow executives to Bangkok when their airplane crashes. Some of the survivors and rescuers will die before the happy ending. The film premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre (21 January 2026) and just released on VOD (24 March 2026).
We had an amazing group and escaped with plenty of time to spare!

There is a Star Trek set where Star Trek fans and others can take photographs, and donations are requested. Otherwise, WonderCon is all about the artists. You’ll see some regulars have moved around and there’s a lot more space than previous years on that 412,00-square-foot Exhibit Hall. We found some cool artists and bought some toys for future Star Trek-inspired adventures.
Vendors we really loved:
