Los Angeles’ premiere art-house movie destination, LAEMMLE THEATRES, is pleased to announce its support of CLIMATE RIDE CALIFORNIA 2013 (May 19-23)

arising out of its commitment to environmental stewardship and solidarity with all moviegoers who care about the quality of life in our local and global communities.

As such, the theater chain is inviting film audiences and the community-at-large to “RIDE WITH GREG LAEMMLE!” Those who respond to the rallying cry will join

company president Greg Laemmle on this year’s Climate Ride as part of TEAM LACBC, meaning their ride will primarily benefit the LOS ANGELES COUNTY

BICYCLE COALITION (LACBC — www.la-bike.org).

All are invited to sign-up to ride with Greg. But FOUR deserving contest winners will receive free registration for the Climate Ride and a MOVIE PASS valid at all

seven Laemmle Locations (list of locations below) for the remainder of 2013! The pass allows free entry for the holder and a guest into any regular screening.

In addition, one GRAND PRIZE Winner will receive $2400 in fundraising support, the minimum level required to participate in this year’s Climate Ride. The three

remaining winners will each be responsible for their own fundraising.

“Picturesque scenery. Incredible comradery. Contributing to a saner planet. And nearly a year’s worth of great cinema waiting for you when you get home.

What’s not to love?” remarks Greg Laemmle. He continues, “Our company is particularly interested in creating more sustainable transportation options in L.A.

including mass transit, cycling, and other forms of greener locomotion. We invite the entire community to join us in this cause and either pedal alongside me or

contribute to our efforts by supporting our riders.”

To enter the “Ride with Greg Laemmle” contest, the public is directed to www.Laemmle.com/Ride. Participants must write a brief statement on why they

want to join Greg. Based on these statements, winners will be independently chosen by a panel of Climate Ride organizers and LACBC officials. The contest is

open to riders and eco-oriented citizens of all ages who have NOT YET registered for Climate Ride California 2013. Winners are responsible for their own transport

to the start of the ride in EUREKA, CA (a shuttle will be available from San Francisco). Entries must be received by Friday April 5, 2013.

Climate Ride California is a 5-day, 300+ mile group bicycle trek (May 19-23) through stunning Northern California territory. Fitness is essential (days average 60 miles

with one optional century), but the event caters to cyclists of all levels. It is not a race. The journey begins in Eureka, CA traversing the Redwood Empire, the

scenic coast, and the Russian River Valley before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into its penultimate destination of San Francisco. Climate Ride is a fully supported

experience, including medical staff, cycling repair services, all meals and snacks, and evening activities. Riders must bring their own tents and sleeping gear,

which is transported to the nightly campsite for them. Participants are required to raise a minimum of $2400 which can be earmarked for a variety of environmental

causes focused chiefly on sustainable transit and renewable energy. For further information, visit www.climateride.org.

The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) is a non-profit, community organization and one of many beneficiaries of Climate Ride California. The coalition

works on behalf of millions of Angeleno cyclists through education, outreach, and legislative advocacy. Among its many accomplishments, it has been instrumental

in the development of MASTER BIKE PLANS for several Southland regions including Los Angeles City, Culver City, and the South Bay – making cycling safer and more

accessible throughout our neighborhoods. Its signature event, the L.A. RIVER RIDE gathers over 2,500 riders each June to navigate the L.A. River from the Autry Museum

in Griffith Park to where it flows into Long Beach in sight of the Queen Mary. Greg Laemmle is an active board member of the LACBC.

“Ride with Greg Laemmle” contest is also supported by CLIF BAR (www.clifbar.com), the delicious and high-impact energy treat that aspires to a sustainable future.
